Welcome to my blog posts of my wife and I’s journey through Ireland. Take these recommendations at your own risk.

Day 1- Travel!
Day one of our adventure was all about getting to Galway, Ireland.
Coming from Seattle, we took an Aer Lingus flight directly to Dublin. We were about 1 hour late getting in but overall not bad. The flight was long, at about 9 hours, and the meals on the plane were not much more than adequate. We flew coach, so I wasn’t expecting much more than that anyway.
Landing in Dublin and getting through the airport/customs was pretty darn easy. We had heard that you needed plenty of time, but gotta say it was a breeze. Customs took about 5 minutes in line and 30 seconds with the agent. Simple questions. “Why are you here?” Where are you staying? When are you leaving? Bing bang boom, and we were through to get our bags.
Baggage claim was quick enough, and there were ATMs at baggage claim. Pulled some cash there as the exchange was cheaper than the little exchange booths in airports. Grabbed some quick cash, and we were off to find our bus to Galway.
CityLink was the bus company we used. Pretty easy to find the bus, but we were about an hour and a half ahead of our scheduled time (remember when I said we thought customs would be longer?). Have no fear, though, they didn’t care. One bus left and they had room in the next (every half hour or so l) and they put us right on. It’s approximately 3h 30m on the bus to Galway. No stops, just straight through.
Obviously, by now we were pretty tired, so we got to our Airbnb. Nice place, more on that later.
We walked down the street to a Cenco (think 7 eleven) bought a few things, and went back to the crib. That’s it for day one. Nothing exciting but nothing went wrong so all in all a perfect day.
